Baby brunch

I am so busy that I have little time to sit down and think, never mind write anything down in a blog. ‘Tis the season, I suppose. But I have a moment now.

I can’t help grinning when I think of my sweet pea sleeping peacefully in her big comfy bed, exhausted after a hectic morning surrounded by friends and a less frenetic afternoon of playing with mama. We officially did not set foot outside the house today.

On Monday, thinking about what I would like to do this weekend, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out who to contact for our Saturday fun. I wanted to see everyone before leaving next week for our family cottage time. So I decided to hold a holiday baby brunch, and invited all of my friends with babies. Although some had to decline the invitation, I don’t really know where we would have put three more grown-ups and four more babies. Thirteen people in my living room was busy enough!

There was a moment after everyone had food on their plates, when there were no shrieks to be heard. The (lack of) sound of contentment. Mmm… french toast and sausages and quiche and fruit and little ham envelopes filled with delicious cottage-cheesy pineapple filling.

As it was Amédée’s second birthday last week, I baked him an apple cake. I think my mama would be proud. She is the queen of birthday cakes, and I intend to follow in her footsteps.

We also did a gift exchange which involved wrapping something that we already had lying around the house but just couldn’t get rid of for some reason or the other. I couldn’t be more thrilled with my copy of Square Foot Gardening which will come in handy for my springtime ambitions.

Hooray for wonderful friends!
